IS OPERATOR
Job description
For our client, one of the international manufacturers of glass containers for the food and beverage industries, is currently looking for a
IS OPERATOR
Main responsibilities:
- To carry out the swabbing and changing of tools as per rota system and as per instruction.
- To detect any defects in the glass and rectify using best practices.
- Regularly check bottle sets for defects and potential defects including gauging.
- To endeavour to have all defects rectified before they have been reported from Cold End.
- Report promptly to line controller and supervision any potential or suspected quality defects that may have entered lehr.
- To make sure weight control systems are working and weight control is maintained to optimum.
- Weigh bottles at least every 10 minutes and enter weight into Afis system and make any adjustments as required.
- Monitor Heye weight control system ensuring all blank capacities are within agreed limits and rectifying when not.
- Be aware of all Quinn Glass procedures at all times.
- Make sure all Hot End critical defect and other procedures are followed correctly.
- To maintain maximum production efficiency and minimum down time.
- To make adjustments to T-600 electronic control system to maximise machine performance.
- To train and mentor lower grade operators.
- Record at beginning and end of shift all machine settings, Foreharth temperatures, pressures settings, cooling settings and availability of spare tools
- Inform supervision of non conformances and or take appropriate remedial action.
- Ensure adequate supply of spare tools at all times.
- Maintain health and safety in the work place and ensure work area is kept in accordance with housekeeping standards.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have the following attributes:
- A minimum of 3 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment operating I.S. Forming Machines to produce high quality standards is essential
- A Mechanical aptitude would be a distinct advantage
- Intermediate level of English

Other notes
The initial training period on days will be 2 weeks followed by training on shifts alongside our more experienced operators. Shift positions are based on a 12 hour shift pattern. |
